Ellie and DJ Specialist a.k.a. EarAbuse are two Latvians who live in London, love Drum and Bass and make fantastic music. The two decided to put their heads together in 2011 when they got carried away by each other’s talents and lust for musical self-expression. This started a journey into sound which created a potentially huge act, that is now known as EarAbuse.
While petite vocalist Ellie gets red-hot from listening to Neuro DNB, as well as Old School and Liquid Drum and Bass, Specialist is an absolute maniac for the darker techy sounds that DNB has to offer. Specialist has an extensive DJ’ing background from as far back as the early 1990s. The music they come up with is a mix of both light vocals and funky dark elements. It is all put together with massive helpings of vocals, brilliant song-writing and structure. A rough explosion of musical emotion and very well thought out melodies give you a sound you will be hooked on as soon as you hear it.
The labels Dangerous New Age Recordings and Live And Dangerous found EarAbuse after hearing the tracks UR Mine and Too Far. The above tracks were being promoted on a YouTube channel called NeurofunkGrid gathering a good amount of subscribers. As soon as DNA and LAD heard the tracks, they knew that this was something special. EarAbuse were contacted by the labels and were offered a record deal.
They have settled in well with the labels now and are just about to put out their 4th track entitled Bad (Just A Little Bit), which is a funky vocal number with a twist of some harder elements and very catchy vocals. This track is set to blow up EarAbuse in 2012! You can check out some of EarAbuse audio on their music page on the site.
